Walking Backwards

Tuesday evening we started the practical portion of our lab work. I really ended up feeling stupid, so this week am going in to every available open lab. The final exam is not going to be too difficult, but the lab portion may just do me in. We basically get a group of rocks and have to identify them and identify distinguishing characteristics that they possess. For instance, one station will have a group a four rocks. You have to identify whether or not they are metamorphic, igneous, or sedimentary. Then you have to identify what rocks they are. Then you have to figure out what relation they have to one another and what place each has in the rock cycle. Now, the problem is that they all look like just rocks. They all look the same to me. I am much better with written analysis than I am with the in-your-hand variety. Yet another reason why I am not cut out to be a scientist.
