Thrilling experiences from a rather uneventful life.

I really should be getting ready to leave, but I just got the wish list from the family that we are buying gifts for and I'm really pissed. I love doing this normally and normally I get close to everything, if not everything, that they ask for and extras as well. Joe and I are not super well off, but we feel that everyone should have something for Christmas. Apparently I was wrong to do this. On the list for our family this year are a portable DVD player, some expensive dvd boxed sets, a leather jacket, and a gold watch. I'm not kidding. I am livid and really don't know what to do. I haven't spent this much on my own family, ever, total, something.

Comments:
That's the kind of crap that irks me. I normally do stuff every year like the Salvation Army Angels tree or the like. With kids I have a lot more patience when they ask for toys even if they are a bit more expensive then I expected to spend. But these families your sponsering I'm assuming don't have much and this is the kind of things they ask for? Why not some warm clothing for winter or books or small toys for thier kids. It makes me wonder about the selection process for these things.

Joe said something similar. We decided to go through a new program this year and ended up with these people and he was wondering what these people have to do to qualify. I can't believe that the charity I'm going through didn't tell them anything.
